Polarized Contact Lenses | |||||||||||||||||
As cool as wearing shades may be it's not always practical. While surfing I have always wanted some protection for my eyes since light intensity in water is so much greater than that on land. Skiing presents a similar problem due to light reflection off the snow but a little less so since there are ski goggles (though they usually fog up on me). I'm sure this idea is not novel and that some firm may be working on it. But for now, I think it would be great to have a pop-out resistant polarized contact lenses for people who like to play in the water and for those who find sunglasses impractical in whatever activity they are engaged in.

Great idea! In addition to the sports applications, it also protects your retina under high UV ray conditions! Aesthetically, it is just like speaking with someone who has dark eyes.
Nice. Maybe make them photochromatic too.
See US Patent 6,874,888, granted in 2005. Don't know if it has been picked up yet by a manufacturer though
