Glutinous rice paper | |||||||||||||||||
Some people like to eat instant noodle when they travel or when they don't have time to cook or eat out. Each packet of instant noodle contains two or three small flavoring packets, which can make noodle more tasty. However, these flavoring packets are usually made of plastic, and people always have difficulty tearing them up without scissors. One solution is that instant noodle producers can use glutinous rice paper to make flavoring packets. People can directly put flavoring packets into the bowl, add water, and the glutinous rice paper will melt very soon, making it much more convenient to flavor and enjoy the noodle. Also, since no plastic is used to produce flavoring packets, it will indirectly do good to environment protection.

I LOVE THIS IDEA, as a regular noodle eater and one in favor of environmental protection. However, does the rice "packets" mean that you can't store instant noodles for five years like you can now?
Genius.
I've definitely dropped those little envelopes in the pot of noodles in the past just by accident after dumping the spices! I've wondered in the past why dissolvable rice paper didn't find more applications in the US. This is a good idea for noodles and other soup mixes, as the appeal of "Throw it all in the pot!" is great for convenience-minded consumers.
Very creative idea! However, I don't know if the product can actually work. Rice flour is high in gluten which means that it is very temperamental. If there is any humidity during the shipping process. the rice paper will melt!
this is funny! more for novelty than convenience, in my opinion. why not make the whole package out of rice paper and soy ink and throw it into the bowl? thumbs up.
This is truly great! I think I've seen something like this used in other products, but certainly not in packages of instant noodles. It nicely combines convenience with environmental concern.
The reason the flavoring packets are plastic is to preserve the flavor. Herbs & spices rapidly loose their best qualities in an airy environment. If not for this little detail the companies manufacturing the noodles would already simply mix the flavorings & noodles in the general package.
Good idea for the environmet, I guess but, man that is just lazy!
Though I have already voted in favour of this idea I now would like to say that unless we make this pouch with a proper tolerance and sustainability during handling and transport, and are able to keep it wet and flexible we can not make it happen. Usually the rice papers are dry and are very fragile and therefore, can not be used for this purpose.
It simply won't work.
This has been done in the past with the misses grass soup that came in a box with a small 'egg' that stored the flavor that you just dropped in the soup.I dont see why it could not be done look at pill capsules and alike. good idea.
i like the idea, but do you think people would be willing to pay a premium for the innovation?
Yes please! I am a huge sucker for novelties- I would probably start eating noodles
Also less stuff in the waste stream. I'd like to see more "sustainability" ideas!

The flavor packet is bullion (salt and dessicated animal protein)+ spices. Just add a seasoned bullion cube to the noodle or instant-rice pack. No need for any wrapping at all. Saves rice for eating, as well as the processing costs for manufacturing the wrapping.
I definitely think this idea is excellent and sense that it could be very easily applied. Great work!
regarding all the humidity issues, I’d rather use a gelatine capsule similar to those they put drugs in. It dissolves in hot water (and maybe gives kind of a sticky flavor to the food ;-) )
