Washer n' Dryer in one | |||||||||||||||||
In stead of switching laundry from the washer to the dryer, how about the machine switching from a washer to a dryer? (Credit goes to my wife for this idea).

Ive often wondered why they have not invented this? Especially for small apartments, in cities like NYC where space is so precious. If they can design next generation washers and dryers (that are HUGE!) why cant they make them into the same machine?
They already make them. There are numerous models available.
I think there are already 2-in-1 washer/dryers out there. Perhaps they are more common in Asia where apartment space is more limited.

Thanks, Dwane!
There are literally 100's of models to choose from... lol
How about an engine on wheels and something to direct them which you hold?(sorry for sarcasm!)
Actually, even bigger apologies are due, I hope I didn't cause offence.
I have heard these do exist but that current models neither wash nor dry very effectively.
I think the idea is a fantastic, but really I was thinking the same thing today!!!! Great minds think alike!!
I think they should have a washer that is connected above the dryer that automatically dumps the clothes into the dryer after washing and begins drying.
This may be a great idea for some people, but I think most people appreciate having the washer vacant for another load of wash while the drying is drying the first load. If you can come up with a machine that does both at the same time, more power to you. But I think that machine would be awfully BIG!
These are common in the high end motor homes, but would be a good idea to advertise them more if they are available to homeowners as well.
they push the separate washer/dryer because they can charge more
If this could be done BETTER it would help, but these all in one machines are all over the UK and most people hate them because they take forever to dry and you have to wash smaller loads and fixing them is complicated. Dryer mechanics last forever, but washers break a lot more frequently. Keep thinking on it, there's always a better, faster, and cheaper way to do things! :)
There are a few models. I have seen them. Very expensive though.
