As we have read time and again, a bunch of monkeys throwing darts at a dartboard comprising stocks of the S&P 500 picked a portfolio that over a year outperformed the stock picks of a panel of experts.

I would start a mutual fund using this strategy - 5 monkeys, a big dartboard, superior returns. Operational costs would be significantly lower than our competitors', savings that can be passed on to our investors as lower-load fees.

Are you sure the monkey story isn't an urban legend?

You could publicize your fund with ads showing five chimps dressed in suits sitting around conference table with a dartboard in the background, with the caption, "Our Management Team."

Using a program that generates five random tickers of the S&P 500 Index would be even more cost efficient... No need to buy bananas :)
