My idea is about a stair lift for the disabled that would allow a wheelchair to directly attach to the rails of the track to descend or ascend a residential staircase. Instead of the currently available stair lift models that require individuals to be moved from a wheelchair to a seat on the lift, my suggested design would avoid the safety concerns and difficulties of moving an individual from a wheelchair to the separate seat on the lift. Aside from the standard stair lift, customers currently do have the option to install wheelchair platform lifts but this product works like an elevator and moves only vertically and most importantly involves considerable construction work to install in a home. I believe that my suggested design is much safer than the standard stair lift, and doesn’t require the extensive home installment process that the alternative wheelchair platform lift does.
