Life Indicators on batteries | |||||||||||||||||
Isnt it annoying when things stop working just at the important moment due to dying battery power. So it wld be nice to have some indicator on the battery indicating its life and thus telling us in advance when we should be changing the battery.

1) Duracell used to include something like this, and the fact that they no longer do suggests something about either the demand or the cost-benefit trade-off for this functionality.
2) Since the batteries are not visible when using a battery-powered device, it would be better if more products incorporated a low-battery warning, as do some. Otherwise, you would have to open the battery compartment when about to use a battery-powered item in order to see the indicator on the battery.
More expensive devices have some kind of battery-monitoring circuitry, my cell phone does, most of my better film cameras and both of my DSLRs do.
Since it's an extra cost, you won't find such a feature on cheaper devices.
