Personal Catcher | |||||||||||||||||
A baseball pitcher's personal training aid. This is a canvas backdrop with batter silhouette which allows pitchers to practice without the need for someone to catch. It would be an 8 foot by 8 foot canvas backdrop, supported by a foldable metal frame. There would be a cutout the size of an average strike zone which has netting behind it allowing for all thrown strikes to be caught. Balls would simply die once they hit the canvas and fall harmlessly at the base of the canvasThis device would allow pitchers to be able to practice alone and at their own leisure. Also, it would be portable and could be used as a strike zone in pickup baseball, softball, and wiffleball games. No more arguing over called balls and strikes with your friends and no more lugging around catching gear.

For some reason a piece of this didn't post, so the differentiator for this canvas catcher would be that the strike zone would be adjustable, allowing for the strike zone to be set to the height of the hitter. It would also allow for the strike zone to be shrunk so the pitcher could concentrate solely on certain areas of the plate, such as high and outside or low and inside. This would allow pitchers to continually practice nibbling on the corner of the plate.
The lone pitcher would have to walk over and pick up the ball after every throw. I used to have a practice net that acted like a trampoline. The ball would bounce straight back to you if you threw it into the strike zone. They sell them at most sporting goods stores.
