Mapquest for Walkers | |||||||||||||||||
Ever wonder what's the quickest way to walk somewhere when there might be more than one potential route? Create a website that provides walking directions and distance between points, regardless of whether you're on a one-way or two-way road. If there are multiple destinations, the website can recommend an order for stops that minimize distance and time travelled. Readers could also recommend shortcuts through parking lots, etc.

It would let you avoid highways, too!
Could it even be used for bicyclists, perhaps?
I agree. You could even add in public transportation and do comparisons for the fastest route.
This would be so useful in cities with large populations of pedestrians. This would have saved me from taking the subway in Boston between two locations less than a 20 minute walk apart, versus 40 minutes on the subway, switching 2 lines.
I think this is a great idea. I use google maps and mapquest to find my way around New Haven and the routes are often longer because the website factors in one ways. I'd love to know the shortest route for a walker.
Please see www.hopstop.com. More or less exists. :)
This could help those that are starting a fitness routine or aid those that are avid walkers.
I think this is great. For cyclers too.
