New Haven Restaurant Delivery | |||||||||||||||||
Too busy too cook? Sick of ordering pizza or Chinese? Given the amount of good restaurants in New Haven, it seems there should be more delivery options. What about a delivery service that covered multiple restaurants in the downtown area? It could basically be similar to a seamless web – you order over the phone or online, and the delivery service picks up the food and delivers it to you.

Great idea, not only for the convenience factor, but also for the safety factor. Even for folks living downtown, it's not ideal to walk the streets solo at night to fetch a take-out order.
Good idea Penna...They had something similar to this in King of Prussia, but it wasn't widely advertised...I received one menu for it and that was it...It would definitely be a great idea in a college town...
Campusfood.com already provides this service. Nicer resaurants may not be willing to be associated with "delivery" and would be unable to provide full dining experience.
This exists in Boulder, CO as well. It works very well.
Whoa, good luck. I used to know some cops who wouldn't go down there after the sun went down. Old New Haven, hometown to 'Yale' and 'The Murder Mall'. West Haven's safer by far.You want to order out call me and I'll have some airlifted in to you.I know some guys, who know's som'guys. Ya'know'wad'I'mean??;) D-
OK, to darchorse,
Do you live in New Haven? Go to new Haven? That woman was murdered over twenty years ago and you're still talking about it? New Haven is a wonderful, vibrant, hip and arts-friendly city that I live and work in. The downtown is full of great restaurants and shopping. People like you are soooo bad for the economy here.
As for the idea, I had the same one myself, and it's a great idea!!!! We'd use it everyday. :)
OK, to pixcom,
My intention was not to make enemies but just having a bit of a laugh. Yes, I have lived and worked in New Haven---in the not so distant past. But it wasn’t for me, as there always seemed to me to be a subtle tinge of social disjointedness. A city suffering from socio-economic denial, struggling to accept the difference between what it was and what it wanted to believe it was. Not feeling the “wonderful…friendly city”, that you live in, I opted to live in West Haven, and continued working in New Haven, with no regrets. (If you compare the data of these two cities, at http://www.city-data.com, you’ll have to agree my comments weren’t out of line with the facts.) Since then my work has taken me elsewhere, but I am happy to hear New Haven has improved. I agree there are a lot of great restaurants in the downtown area. Please accept my apology as it was not my intention to offend you.
Now, on to the issue at hand, I have some questions to add which might move this idea along a little:
1) Since you desire a premium service; how much would you be willing to pay for just the delivery? (Not including the food you ordered) 2) Would this include the drivers’ tip?
3) In dollars, what would you expect the minimum order amount to be set at?
4) Would you expect this service to accept Credit Cards?
5) What would be the hours you would expect to use this service?
6) What’s the maximum time you would be willing to wait for you’re delivery?
7) Would you expect a discount for a late delivery? (Say 10 to 15 minutes late.)
8) What would you expect the size of the delivery area to be----in miles, and in minutes?
9) How many times per week do you eat out? How much do you spend on average?
10) How many times per week do you order in? How much do you spend on average?
As I said, just a few questions, D-
