A private movie thater with a seating capacity for 20-30 people where you can screen your favorite movies/wedding video for friends and family. Could come with a break-out area for drinks and food...

Called a high-end home theater.I don't know the viability of setting one up to rent out as a business.
Maybe 100 seats or so,"Premim service" commercial theatre, you hire out on spec, or have regular paid screenings.
Not commercially viable as a pure product.
Yes a combination of regular commercial use combined with this facility of hiring under odd hours like before noon or after midnight.
Cute idea, but seeing as movie theaters charge 8 bucks a person in theaters that seat over a hundred...the costs will be insane for a private screening room.
EZ-Rent rooms with theater... promote a "franchise" concept so a middle-man such as myself could make money from some vision I have for running a few movies on a theme. I can sell food too (the owner does not need to know about any licenses)
Indi films... specialized singles events... part of a wedding group to solidify an experience & bonding... employers with management/group films... team parties... foreign films... small reunions... live sports...
I can provide my own DVD or arrange a new movie (maybe not quite brand new) from the landlord/theater for a fee.
Right now hotels let you rent large rooms for large groups, but these things are very pricey, inflexable, and cold. This would foster intimacy. I can see annual Lord Of The Rings showings, Star Trek/Wars, Matrix, Apes, etc etc,
I love this idea, but I think allowing a middle-man party-meister MC make a profit would really help. Someone with a flair for pop combinations could help strangers with common interests connect.
a chain of theaters has a similar service, only they target it at business presentations, I've seen the commercials in the theaters, so they must feel they can make money form it (or at least don't mind advertising about it)
A doctor I know has one in his basement. Additionally, he has motion transducers attached to the seats to connect the subsonics from the speaker system into the seats, giving the effect of intensity associated with the scenes.
