better channel surfing | |||||||||||||||||
To cut back on the number of times you have to surf all the waythrough the channels, why can't the station display what the currentshow is at the bottom of the screen? The little bit of text wouldbe up all the time, especially during commercials! I might stickaround long enough to see thier paid advertising if the show isworth waiting around for. Right now if I hit thier channel and it's a commercial I'm gone before I even know what product is beingsold.

This exists with digital cable. (Indeed, you can even see what show will be on next.)
How about a chessboard pattern showing all the channels at the same time? Some people wouldn't even bother surfing then!
I seen the chessboard thing about 15 years ago on a high-end TV. The guide thing is on digital cable and satellite, provided accurate data is provided by the station to the guide provider (satellite and cable providers usually get their data from a guide provider. There is an extension of Close Captions that has some data.
