Health Points Reward System | |||||||||||||||||
This program would work similar to airline's frequent flier points programs. A participating consumer would earn points for health behaviors. These points could then be used as to purchase products at discounts or for free (with enough points). Healthy behaviors would include things such as gym visits, preventative care visits, enrollment/participation in weight watchers and/or some other similar program, etc. The program would be structured to award behaviors (not just purchases)and points could be structured to reward results in addition to activities (i.e. 100 points if your cholesterol level improves by 20 points). Companies who are trying to cultivate a healthy brand image would participate on the list of companies with redeemable products. Companies could develop tie-in promotions to further encourage revenues (i.e. double points earned for every mile used with Nike+IPod). Limited programs such as these already exist within certain employer groups who often tie rewards to monetary incentives. Why not expand these programs into the general consumer space and allow for portability of points from program to program?

The program would need to be secure and watched. What woud prevent me form having two cards, one for my healthy things, another for my more unhealthy things.
