I am a huge peanut butter fan, and have been waiting for years for Pop-Tart to come out with a peanut butter flavor. My idea:Peanut butter filling with a banana-flavored swirl, inside a chocolate crust. Mmmm.

Since I live in Helsinki I'm not sure what a pop-tart is. I assume it is some kind of pastry that can be heated inside an electric toaster. Instead of having some specific flavor perhaps it might be entertaining to have a tart like a pita made with flakey pastry. If it could be slit open and reclosed like a pita you could insert any flavor you favored before heating it.

That sounds like a wonderful idea Sand.

Sorry, Sand, I hadn't thought that some people may not have heard of Pop-Tarts, you can read about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop-tart

The problem with the 'add your own filling' idea is that one of the great things about Pop-Tarts is that they're convenient and portable, grab them and go. There is no time, mess or hassle like with toast and other things that involve adding your own filling/spread, they can sit in a backpack all day and be perfectly fine. Also, the crusts aren't flaky, we already have things called Toaster Strudel which are basically like flaky crusted Pop-Tarts.

What might add to the convenience of my idea would be a hollow pop tart with an accompanying tube like a tooth paste tube with a pointed tip somewhat like those used in glue. The tubes would contain various fillings that could very conveniently be quickly injected into the interior of the pop tart with minimum effort and mess.

i agree. there are no peanut butter filled pop tarts (even in generic store brands) that i have found. i believe it would be an attractive addition to the pop tart family. after all, i have found peanut butter-n-chocolate cups, ice cream, malt balls, and pies. my only change would be to have the regular crust, but choclolate frosting, or maybe a chocolate frosting with a banana swirl. man am i getting hungry...

I'm a huge PB fan too. I'd also prefer the PB filling, regular crust, chocolate frosting, and banana swirls.

I think that sounds quite delicious, but think a Peanut Butter and Jelly would be a a better tasting pop tart.

I think that a PB poptart would be really good. You would think that they would have thought about that sooner because they have every other flavor.

I'm over 50 and I remember seeing poptarts filled with jelly like grape or strawberry frosted with a peanut butter flavored frosting when I was a kid and frosted poptarts first came out. I've looked for them ever since.

I'd go for the PBJ.

I was thinking of chocolate, peanut butter, and chocolate & peanut butter for Newtons, but they could work for PopTarts too.
