Sensored Toilet Lid and Seat | |||||||||||||||||
I thought it would be a great idea to have a sensor on the toilet lid and seat that would automatically shut the lid whenever you walked away from the toilet. This would probably be appreciated more by women whose husbands repeatedly leave the lid up.

How come women never put the top lid down, either? This always cracks me up. There are two lids. I inevitably have to put the seat up to use the bathroom, just as a woman has to put the seat down. Neither party is actually closing the lid.
Seems to me that no matter what is done one party or another is going to be inconvenienced by it.
I suppose you could tell your wife if it was such an issue for her you could start peeing in the bathroom sink and the lid would be where ever it was.

What about selling nerf baseball bats on poles? You can fight it out!
TOILET LID BATTLE ARENA SUPER A+ FROM MATTEL
I think a reminder beeper would be cheaper and more practical. 30 seconds (say--the length would be programmable) after the seat had been raised it would quietly beep for a minute until the seat was lowered. Not everybody would like it, but it would work for some people.
PS: In fact, I think such gadgets exist, as stick-on-to-the-underside items, and cost under $10.
