As some of you will know, I am a cofounder of Honest Tea. We are considering making a carbonated ready-to-drink iced tea. There is a tea-based soft drink on the marekt made by Steep (now Steez). Their drink has green tea extracts, but doesn't taste like tea. It is also very sweet. In Europe, Lipton sells carbonated iced tea. What do you think?

I'd be willing to try carbonated tea. Had something sorta' similar to that once - it was tea with aloe vera juice added to it, I seem to remember there was some carbonation to it also.

A carbonated, non-sweetened, decaf herbal tea - that would be a pretty good combination for us health minded individuals!

Here's a thought how about a Tea based sports drink with electrolites added like gator aide with out the sugar.

You can call it Tea-mates

Living in Holland and France, I can tell you there's a lot more in this Lipton cans than tee and gas...

quite honestly, it may be great for some, but the main reason I but bottled iced tea is because it is non-carbonated.

latco01, Sep 26 2003

Sounds like it could be a nice healthy alternative to traditional soft drinks.

I drink huge quantities of ice tea but almost never buy bottled tea because it has all sorts of stuff added. If someone bottled regular ice tea with nothing added no sugar, lemon, fruit etc. and made it widely available I would buy great quantity.

I was a market tester in the UK for non-carbonated iced tea, which I like much better than the Yucky Lipton stuff. I started drinking iced tea as an alternative to soda. So, nah, don't think it's a great one.

If people will drink carbonated cough syrup i.e. Red Bull, they will clearly drink carbonated anything.

I say try it, chances are good that it will work. Find a catchy brand name though.

my two cents:

I guess one of the things I like about iced tea is that it's just kind of a calm drink -- no fizzy. Fizzy iced tea wouldn't appeal to me, I'm thinking it would be like the short-lived Seven Up Gold, but again, that's just me.

I do like that Opus tea you guys make though... :)

I would try carbonated ice tea. I think carbonation is refreshing, and I love the variety you get with tea. I'm puzzled why no one sells bottled ice tea (carbonated or not) in many of the Twinnings flavors. I see "peach" and "raspberry" flavored bottled ice tea, but no Earl Grey or Constant Comment or English Breakfast.

I just took a look at the Honest Tea website. So the whole point of Honest Tea is exactly what I was asking for. I will rush out and buy some!

I drink huge amounts of Ice Tea and on a trip to Belgium I had some fo the carbonated tea. WOW what a difference I now like both carbonated and regular. Alas I can't find it here in the good ole USA. I would by stock in a company willing to produce it. Hey Lipton get a clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I have contaced them!Larry

Larry, Apr 01 2004

I had the Lipton carbonated tea in Holland, and it was delicious. I contacted Lipton to inquire about it in the US, and was told , sorry, we do not have any plans to offer this in the US. I would have ordered cases if I could have found it. Please, if you are considering producing this, DO!!!!!

Barry, I must say, I love the honest tea. It is now my drink of choice and I agree, the chai is good with pizza. Anyway, I was in Holland last summer, 2004, and I had carbonated diet iced tea, I though it was nestea, but I may be mistaken. This was the greatest drink I ever had; it was the best E1.75 I spent the entire trip. I have been desperately trying to find a replacement but all searches have been to no avail. This includes steaz--too sweet and no tea flavor at all. I want an icead tea that is fully carbonated. I would even drink an uber-sweet brisk or nestea if it were carbonated. So I say, go for it, totally. I'll buy the first case.

My wife loves the carbonated Lipton iced tea available in Europe and wishes she could buy it in the USA.

I found this site THINKING about how great it would be if ice tea beverages went carbonated. I'm telling you-- its an untapped market! Million dollar idea! The only thing with the Honest Tea line is that the tea flavors are very distinct and that's the point. If you crabonate it it might lose the taste and the nuance of the flavors. I think *sweet* tea with a fesh flavor (maybe mint or lemon-mint) with carbonation would work. It's refreshing. It's narural. Have you invented it yet?

I love the idea of carbonated ice tea. Please let peach oo-la-long be the first to get the fizz.
