I often travel to a major city by car. It would be great if I can punch in the address and get the area mapped (Google Maps) with street parking regulations and meters. If I am visiting Ave 12, I'd like to see where I can park around that avenue - parking lots, meters, and regulations. Would help me plan more effificiently.

Absolutely brilliant. I do just that whenever I drive into the city, scanning the satellite photos from Google Maps for likely parking areas, that nice diagonal pattern that signifies metered lots, checking the club site for any information they might give, etc. I can only do that when I have plenty of time to get ready, however, so something like what you are suggesting would be fantastic.
Now that I think about it I would suggest that this be a service that gets folded into GoogleMaps, rather than a website on its own.
great idea
I used Google Maps new street-level view, which is active now in Portland, OR, when making a trip there in March. It enabled me to avoid a wrong turn that I'd have taken if I'd followed the Google maps alone. In addition, knowing what the key intersections and landmarks look like, and having a print-out of them alongside in the car, is a great way to build confident driving and avoid missing turns, squinting at tiny street signs, etc. I hope street-level view comes to the rest of the country soon.
