Do you ever find it frustrating having to wait days for your dry cleaning to be turned around? If dry cleaners operated according to a low-cost model they might literally ‘clean-up’. The idea is that the price of dry cleaning to the customer would be cheaper the sooner it is collected. Leave it at the cleaners for days and it costs you more. The logic here is premised on space costs and customer services. Collecting sooner allows the dry cleaners to maintain a higher turnover of garments and/or operate from a smaller facility thereby generating greater revenue and/or incurring lower rental costs. These advantages can be passed on to the customer in the form of faster turnaround of cleaning and also lower costs – which in turn should attract greater business volumes to the cleaners. Everyone wins!
