Gas Nozzle Holder | |||||||||||||||||
Argh! A cold day and I have to stand outside to hold the gas nozzle handle. Not only do i freeze, but now my hands are dirty and stink like gas. I have a home-made device that fits perfectly under the handle to hold the nozzle in the "pump" position. I usually set it and go in for a cup of coffee while the tank fills up. Most Full Serve gas attendants leave the nozzle in "pump" position with a built in metal piece on the handle. This piece is usually broken off of the handle on Self Serve lanes - Let's get the man on this one!

There is probably safety and liability reasons why there is no such feature on self-serve pumps.
On of these days you are going to get caught using that and it is going to cost you a whole lot more than a pair of gloves because you are not near to shut the gas off if there is a problem. If you do not believe what I say ask for the phone number of states weights and measurements division (one of their jobs is to make sure that the gas pump pumps what it says on the quanity)and give them a call about the thing you made--or call your fire dept, they should know the regulations that I refer to.
Keep using it while away getting your coffee if you like to burn money on more ways than one!!!! If I ever saw anyone doing what you are doing I would report him/her for the safety of everyone!!!!
I couldn't help laughing after reading those comments. This device is no different than the device already on every single pump handle, you know the one up under the handle that locks the pump on. The only difference is that this device is not built into the pump handle. You other posters don't seem to get it.
