I sometimes wonder at the difficulty of disseminating information. There was an excellent idea I saw posted here about cycling pictures of missing children over screen savers at the ER; people there are subject to more volume of people flow than most other places, and so they're more likely to spot someone.
In that discussion I came up with the idea of a dedicated Missing Children channel. That way, any idle TV space could be utilized for dispersion-time. (Sort of a parallel processing idea, like the SETI@Home project, but dedicated to finding humans :) Maybe one of the TVs in each electronics store, instead of just displaying stuff with little to no value to it (you know, soaps). My idea would be to make it so you can watch a few seconds or minutes of the channel everywhere you go, thus vastly increasing exposure time. You know how there are change boxes everywhere, and you drop a few coins into it, sure, well this is an analog to that; you donate a few seconds or minutes of your time here and there, but you're constantly doing it.

One big difficulty arises for mine that did not for the other: Pause/Rewind. Short of TiVo (which would not apply in most of the settings I envision), I don't know.
Perhaps soon technology will provide us through that one: call a number to get a clip of the past 2 minutes beamed to your phone, dedicated dispersion boxes with controls on them, etc)
