There are copyright issues to deal with, but the professors and universities will be against this. Professors will be worried about being "obsoleted". Duke University does record its lectures and lets its students replay them as a podcast. If they were to make these public, someone could "steal" them for their university without compensation. For this reason, the project must start with publicly funded universities, who may or may not decide to give a little royalty compensation to the professors, who are paid by the tax payers anyway.
I am also for partnering with Discovery and History channels for content, they are incredibly good a presenting some subjects (and some people don't learn as well from books).
