Given the thirst for things to watch on cable, a multi-player video game that produces action that visually entertains could be cheap and cool. Consider the audiences for both TV Poker and Battle Bots -- the standards are not too high.

I might start with 5-on-5 basketball, where real people might wear 3d gear, but do not have to be in great shape nor be 7 feet tall. They all get their own views in a game handled by a powerful host computer.

The key, though, is making a product that can be watched, with 9 cameras and 360-wrap around views and slo-mo replays. People will spend endless hours in EVERQUEST type games, so we can find players. Maybe pull in semi-celebrities to get some extra interest.... retired players, whatever.

Later we should be able to invent new sports with gaming/visual aspects more suited to computer graphics, but for starters go with familiar sports. Make player-to-player interaction the key to victory -- that will be more entertaining than just one hotshot.

Make just a little money from participant fees, make more money selling commercials on ESPN-6. The overhead is low.

People watch bowling, so if you want to tell me people will not watch -- I think I can defend this idea!
