Water pipes should be made of materials that resemble the features of thermal flasks. Imagine the savings in heating costs and fossil fuels(those using oil heat). The water temperature would be preserved for long periods, leaving out the need to heat the whole house for 24 hours during winter months to avoid pipes freezing. This would be excellent for nights when bedroom is only used. Heater would heat the pipes to a temperature and reheat only when the temperature falls low. It would be great all year around, since hot water is usually heated.

I have found that single wall pipe of any material (metel or plastic) is so much less expensive to manufacture than a double wall product. It makes sense to just use one of the very inexpensive expanded foam sleeves that are readily available, rather than try to maintain a vacuum or spacing between the two layers.
