Why oh why can we not vote on the internet. It seems to me nothing in a democracy is more important than having the complete voice of the people be allowed to speak. Voting is often a burden (because of long lines or other difficulties), and usually only about 60% of the eligible voters actually vote in the US. For those who are concerned about security and potential fraud and rigging, it seems to me if banks can deal with secure online transactions, then the government with all its money should be able to figure something out.

As the election and re-election of Bush has indicated the motivation for fraud in election is huge with lots of money involved. If some individual is robbed over the internet (which is a frequent occurrence) it's too bad, but does not get the nation into a useless murderous conflict over fake evidence which has killed over 3000 Americans and possibly 650,000 Iraqis. The convenience of the lazy voter is less important than the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.
Its a great idea, but VERY hard to do right. If you can prove HOW you voted, then people can buy your vote. If not, then fraud is a big possibility. It probably could be done, but we may not be ready to do it yet.
