toy rental/cleaning service | |||||||||||||||||
Rent durable toys to doctors offices to occupy children in waiting rooms. Currently many offices have toys however many are broken and very dirty. I wonder how often they are cleaned. Every week a new and clean tub of toys would be brought in and the old one taken away to be cleaned. Toys could be rotated so there would be a change in the variety of toys every week. Office staff would not have to worry about cleaning the toys or ensuring they are safe. Also, posters could be put up letting patients and customers know that the office uses the service and therefore it would give peace of mind to clients who bring their children into the office for appointments.

Whatever the cycle time of toy cleaning might be the chance of transmission of a disease by a toy in a doctor's office is probably higher than parents would prefer. Children often put objects in their mouths and unknown toys would be particularly subject as transmitters. Toys in a doctor's office seem to me to be a generally bad idea.
Brilliant idea. I don't let my kids play with the toys in offices because they invariably get sick a few days later. I did once see a truck around town that had something to do with toy sanitizing but I can't recall any details.
Extend this idea to day care centers and have the provider switch the toys every day. This would leave the teachers with additional time to devote to the kids as well as lessen the transfer of germs.
Disinfecting the toys would be part of the service. I am not sure people would be eager to pay for the service, but once started it might work well.
