Earthship Homes | |||||||||||||||||
This is not my idea, but it's a great concept worth putting out there. In 1990 I saw a video titled "EARTHSHIP", narrated by Dennis Weaver. The concept was about environmetally friendly solar mass home made from recycled tires and aluminum cans. The program was a step by step process using tires and and aluminum cans. When the home was finished in a Southwest design, I sat there in awe. I have wondered for the last 17 years why this hasn't caught on. Tires pile up and if they are set on fire, they can burn for years. If you get a chance, look up Earthships homes on the internet...why are we not doing this? Think about the tires that are thrown out each day, all across the country...where do you think those tires are and how do you think companies get rid of them? Let's recycle them and build environmentally friendly homes...let's save our environment.

Driectly, they are butt ugly,IMO, and suitable only for the sortof personality suited to that sort of home.
Realistically, the tires, cans, and other things can be recycled to make more conventional building masterials that would be used to build homes that real people would want to live in.
