Courtesy Line at Baggage Claim | |||||||||||||||||
All airports should consider drawing a line tracing the shape of each baggage claim turnstile at least 5 feet out and inform passenagers that everyone is to stand behind this line until they see their baggage coming around the bin and ONLY then can they go right up to the turnstile. This would allow everyone visability and physical space to acquire their luggage.

Do I need to even mention how annoying this process is after a long flight. I just want to scream "Step back so we can all see not just you"!
Why not have the airport install baggage claims that are large enough to accommodate all of the luggage from the largest plane they expect to land? That way there is plenty of room for everyone to watch for their luggage.
Good identification of a problem. I disagree with solution. You write that the "airports... inform passengers that everyone is to stand..." Such an arrangement would depend on an 'enforcer' or in this case, a persuasive supervisor. Or, in reality, it depends on self-compliance. Not much of an improvement. How about zapping people's feet, like dogs within an electric fence?
