Text Message Business Cards | |||||||||||||||||
Business cards are an archaic and cumbersome component of networking. After recieving a business card, if an individual actually holds onto the card, they are charged with manually entering the data into their contact management software. Why not develop a web based service where one can create their business card online, with their cell phone number being the primary ID. When a person wishes to exchange contact information with another, they simply send a text message to the web site, with the recipient's phone number. The web service then sends the text message business card to the recipient, as well as a link to the website if the individual is not already a user. By accessing the website, one would easily import new contact info into whatever contact management software the user chooses (Outlook, Plaxo, etc.). It would not be meant to immediately replace traditional business cards, it would supplemental them, ultimately providing one with several channels of contact info access, as well as facilitate effortless data entry.

I like the idea, but we're actually already doing that kind of things by exchanging vcard files by email. What is the benefit to exchange those cards by SMS ?
