wireless electricity | |||||||||||||||||
Why not have wireless electricity? A network of towers/power centers that control and distribute electricity that you can tap from anywhere there is wireless connectivity. No more wires or plugs. Sounds crazy, but someone must be able to figure it out.

The more electromagnetic crap zapping through the atmosphere the more the chance your brains will get fried.
good idea but easier said than done.
I thought Nikola Tesla already did this in 1899. . .
this has been done. a company has built one that will give up to eight feet of electricity
It would require a very powerful magnetic field, which would require tremendous current to produce. The losses involved would make it highly impractical.
It would also render electronic equipment inoperable, not to mention what it would do to your body.
ok, i don't know most of the above users' backgrounds but most are wrong or don't have all the facts on the subject.* sand: only certain frequencies of electromagnetic engergy are a dangerous as you made them sound. most cities with many radio stations have radio waves (part of the electromagnetic spectrum) flowing through people as we speak with no harm what soever. not to mention the fact that visible light and infared energy (also part of the electromagnetic spectrum) are all through our atmosphere.* david90: the only correct one out of the users above* Hyenuf: you are correct in saying Tesla already developed a way of doing this by charging the ionosphere in some of his later works, however, it prooved to be affecting the local environment since the frequencies he was transmitting on (and needed to for optimal transmission) where the same as those of beta brainwaves (of animals and humans) and local fisherman of the area were complaining to authorities that for somereason they were catching much less than normal. however the main reason his work was stopped was because the investor in his project (he was actually building a huge transmission tower), pulled out when he found out that anyone in the world could tap into the energy and use it. i.e. there would be no way to charge people in a different country for it. it is also speculated that it would affect the weather patterns.* helloiam: i don't know who you are, but how is anyone suppost to get "eight feet of electricity"?!* belmont: i'm not sure if you have been reading the MIT research on the subject, but a magnetic feild is not the only way to skin this cat.
