talk to other drivers | |||||||||||||||||
Here's an idea I thought was great at first but the people I've run it by are very skeptical. Let me know what you think. Remember the old days when CB radios were all the rage? This idea is much the same. Except with today's hand's-free driving laws, this idea's only good for passengers. A network of special phones in cars, but instead of a "handle" like the CB's used, the phone numbers on these would be the same as the license plate on your car. When you get the phone you also get a sticker to put in your window to tell others you're in the network. Here's how it works. You're a passenger riding along the highway and for whatever reason, you'd like to have a conversation with the car ahead of you (or beside you, or behind you). You see the member's decal in the window, you pick up your phone and dial the license plate. His or her phone rings and bingo, you start talking. You might want to ask directions, you might want to say her left rear tire needs air, or you might want to ask why is that leg sticking out of the trunk. So let me know if this is a crazy idea or not.

Great, give people another reason to take their minds off the road while operating a vehicle. Not a good idea.
I don't really want to communicate with the moron who cut me off at the last freeway exit, nor the blue-haired angel who's been driving the last 35 miles with her left blinker on, at 43 mph in the "fast" lane.
