Accident/Vehicle data network | |||||||||||||||||
The idea is to simply share data between vehicles of type, weight, speed, etc in real time. 1. All cars are classified by speed, power, weight, specs in general and sensors will have more precise data.2. Data is transmitted to vehicles in proximity, via a wireless platform such as wifi, bluetooth, packet radio, etc.3. Data is shared to vehicles and passed on to others. Each car is a gateway, sends data to 10 other vehicles every preset of time. Think of a P2P network but once a peer receives the data... a protocol needs to eliminate buffer overflows and data must have a unique identifier to create a mechanism that will not "spam" others.4. Data is captured also by traffic centers.5. An message category classifies each event... an accident, traffic jam, etc.6. Cars can automatically redirect to other routes if a collision is detected. 7. Traffic lights can change to easy traffic and redirection...8. the network could be built using simple text messaging from phones to telco's. GPS's on cars could send specific coordinates.9. data mining software could be used to better/improve city traffic problems10. vehicle data could assist in determining polution levels in specific areas.11. driving patterns could be passed on to change speed limits...12. too many more obvious things to list... car manufacturers... please do this! if a car collision or vehicle stops abruptly, this system could avoid accidents by transmitting a warning! imagine a car that tells you to slow down right before an accident? or it could stop if it detects a sudden stop from a vehicle in front of you, calculates speed/weight of your vehicle and determines minimum distance required to stop it? and if not action is taken, stops immediately?

This is a brilliant idea! Also could help if someone got in an accident, 911 could know exactly where within a matter of seconds. Maybe this could broadcast gps coordinates also.. Traffic centers could easily warn of icy roads, etc.
