FOREST FIRE ALERTER | |||||||||||||||||
THE GADGET:The gadet is a APRS (Automatic position reporting system ) enabled device with a smoke/heat sensor.The gadget shall be be solar powered with battery back-up.These gadgets send a alarm when when ever they detect smoke orfire- they shall transmitt all temperature parameters to thecontrol station. The source of the fire can be spotted andimmediate action can be taken.How many sensors? - it depends on the budget aviable- one everyfive square kms quite feasible. This gadget would save millions of dollars and human life

It doesn't need to report its position, just what unit it is. Its location would be assume, based on where it was installed.
This gadget is a APRS communicator, in addition to transmitting its position, italso transmitts vital parameters about the forest fire. It does it job and may ormay not get destroyed because of the forest fire. You would get yourself educatedon the Concept of APRS
I know what APRS is. I am just questioning the need for a fixed device to report is location, when its location is presumably already known. Its like putting a GPS receiver on my house.
I have already stressed that the GADGETs need to be placed atmany places and they are continously transmittng vital dataDepending on the requirements, the gadgets can be placed atintervals of say 2 sq km. (The number of gadgets placed maydepend on studies done in areas prone to fire forests). I amtalking of many gadgets installed in fire prone areas rathera single gadget.
We can have appropriate software to continuously scan the satellite sent images of known forest areas to auto-detect the fire and raise an early alarm. Some of these alarms could be false, but this overhead could be worth taking to be on the safer side.
