It seems lately there has been a craze for making personal computers smaller and smaller, with small form factors and media-center pcs trying to shrink size and noise while packing lots of features. I just wonder why noone (as far as i know, of corse) hasn't built yet laptops without the screen. Why this?1. Small: even to the size of a subnotebook2. Cheaper: missing screen -> much lower price. Why pay for a screen when you already have (a probably bigger) one?3. Vintage: it would be like the old days of the Commodore 64; a keyboard that actually has a computer inside, and you just have to connect it to your HDTV or monitor of your choice.4. No R+D needed: The only thing required is eliminating one part!5. Versatility: laptops come with lots of ports for expansion. External graphic cards are on the way.6. Upgradeable: i don't think it would be so difficult to make dettachable screens if you want to use it as a 'normal' (i.e.portable) laptop.
Does this already exist?

With the advent of USB external harddisks -your idea has less relevance.A laptap with a TV-out will still have a lot of takers. A small devicewhich can be connected to your TV in a hotel room - Sounds like a great idea
I like to see a screen less laptop with a mini projector that can be used on any wall/ orflight seat in front of you. The laptop could come with a foldable/ screen in case you are sitting on a counter or couch.
Some of the SFF PCs do in fact use some of the minaturisation and power efficiency technologies a notebook uses. One I heard of is the cappucino PC, not to mention what could be done with a VIA EPIA board.
