PEN PC | |||||||||||||||||
PEN PC YOU HAVE SEEN A PDA A LAPTOP A TABLET PC - I HAVEUSED ALL OF THEM. I FIND IT CUMBERSOME TO CARRYMY PDA WHEN ON THE MOVE . WHAT ABOUT A PEN PC?. YOU PUT IN POCKETJUST LIKE A PEN AFTER USE. MY CONCEPT OF A PEN PC-IS A FLEXIBLE COMPUTER ABOUT 2MM THICK 4 X 4 INCHES.THE KEYPAD THE DISPLAY ARE ALL FLEXIBLE THEY CAN BEROLLED INTO A SMALL ROLL ABOUT A 1NCH IN DIAMETERWITH A CLIP- YOU ROLL IT BACK AFTER USE AND PUT ITIN YOUR POCKET . I DO NOT KNOW IF THE TECHNOLOGYTO MAKE A FLEXIBLE LCD SCREEN OR KEY PAD EXISTS.THE PROCESSOR WILL HAVE TO BE ABOUT A ½ INCH X3 INCHES. I HAVE HEARD ABOUT FLEXIBLE PCB’s . THEMAKING OF A PROCESSOR, KEYPAD AND THE LCD SCREENWILL BE A BIG CHALLENGE- THE JAPANESE WOULD BEGAME FOR SUCH A PEN PC.

Try the new Nokia E90 communicator. Not exactly a pen but awesome. Oliver
I AM LOOKING FOR A PDA/COMUNICATOR WHICH IS FEATHER LIGHT - EASY TO POCKETAND DOES RESEMBLE A CONVENTIONAL PDA.
I would like a head mounted display (glasses) that incorporate head movement sensors for the mouse, and "The Egg" for data entry. The Egg was a 1980's single handheld keyboard for doing data entry on the move.
Regarding the Egg: it was a single hand, handheld keyboard
The Data Egg
The technology for mechanical packaging would be the weakest link. You'll have to have some-kinda stretchy material for the chassis that can be rolled up. The flex-circuit-pc board and flexible display have been done, but when you put any active components (think CPU) on a flexible pc-board, that part can't flex anymore. I don't think you'd be able to do better than a blackberry or such-though. So much of a pc is in the user experience. Roll-up keyboard are availble now and they're not fun to use. http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/input/5a7f/tactile feedback is the biggest issue.
I don't know why we're not all using that data-egg now. Pretty cool.
