About 3.6 billion people on Earth suffer from starvation, and about 12 million people die from starvation alone, not to mention the many diseases which prey on the malnourished. This is an outrageous amount, especially with the food that could be readily available - dead people. About 150,000 people every day die from non-communicable causes.

You know how you can volunteer to be an organ donor? What I'm suggesting is that you could also volunteer to, in the event of your death, be made into food for the starving people of the world. Your body would, of course, be screened to ensure that you didn't have AIDS or anything. Then your dead body would be processed and manufactured into a handy form of food for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to eat.

Cannabalism isn't too high on the list of things that civilized society considers acceptable.

I personally don't believe it's as bad of cannibalism if they're already dead, but I too don't agree with eating people. I would like to see some other method to make use of dead-bodies if something good could be proposed.

I think too big of a deal is made about bodies in our culture, with preserving them and concrete vaulted tombs and all.

I just can't figure out how they can 'power the city' like on "Logan's Run".

Major changes in dealing with the dead is an impossible task. It is involved with extremely emotional areas and deeply immersed in religious beliefs and organizations making profits from highly distressed people. Logic and economy have no chance in dealing with this area.

I would personally prefer to be freeze-dried and vacuum-sealed in Mylar than turned into jerky (although the concept sounds disturbingly similar).

There are a number of more economic means to feed the world's starving millions; the obstacles to providing food to most of the starving people in the world are largely POLITICAL, not economic or logistical.

Many tons of direct food aid (from the US and other wealthier countries) to starving people in other countries often sits on docks rotting after being unloaded from ships, or is stolen or misdirected by criminals or corrupt government officials. Some governments actually refuse to accept aid, preferring to starve out opposing groups that may threaten their power.

The Zoroastrians feed their dead to vultures in a special temple. Those vultures are now dying out for some reason.

I could go for first, harvesting organs and tissues, and then doing something like composting bodies or doing something to turn them into fuel.
