Commercial Ticker | |||||||||||||||||
Commercials run as a ticker with a number on bottom of screen instead of interupting the program. you could reference the number and order from a central office which relays the order to the specific company.

Order what, the commercial or the advertised product?
I think this would be far too distracting -- I pretty much only watch stuff I've taped which makes it a cinch to fast-forward over commercials. That crawl being there all the time I'd find insanely annoying.
Although perhaps networks will employ this method to try to defeat TiVo's commercial skip (or is it commercial blocking?) feature. Yet if they do I don't think network TV will last much longer.
This would allow even very small companies to advertise
it would be even better after i stick a strip of electrical tape across the bottom of the screen, thereby eliminating commercials entirely!
This idea is backward. The CNN news ticker should run even during commercials, in order to keep people gazing toward the TV. When I'm at the gym and CNN is on the TV in front of me with subtitles but no sound, I watch the segments closely so that my workout is easier. The hardest part is during commercials, when I have nothing to look at other than the numbers on the treadmill. If the ticker were running at that point, I'd be watching the TV, and maybe even notice the things that were being advertised.
