There are a lot of great introductory HTML tutorials on the web. One good one is here at Webmonkey.com. You don't have to know HTML to be able to submit comments and ideas though.

It would be nice if they put a link in the comment box to a page with simple directions for using the HTML codes. They could just add a sentence that says "Directions for using HTML code here", with a link to an appropriate page.

BTW, if you want to know how to create a link, just copy and paste the a href code above, complete with both a's and all four arrows. Put your link address in place of the ... and put your description of the link between the arrows ><.
