Buy tailored clothing online | |||||||||||||||||
Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to waste our time shopping for clothes that fit? Even if you're average size, you know that 36"-32" pants (i.e., "trousers") means different things to different brands (and even within different lines within the brands). Here's the business model for an enterprising tailor or garment manufacturer, using pants as an example: 1) Have the customer mail in their favorite pants. Typically, we "shape" our clothing (no matter what the label measurements say), and the customer *knows* they like that style/fit. Sending in measurements would work fine, too. 2) Send back the favorite pants plus a collection of perfectly fitting pants in various colors and materials. Who would care about name brands if they had a good-looking clothing? I can't tell you how much aggravation and time I would save if this convenience existed.

The cost would be very low because the middle man (the brick & mortar retail shop) would be cut out. Your favorite pair of pants would be sent to a location in the US with low labor costs. The information about the pants would be sent online to, say, China, where the clothes are manufactured. The clothes are then sent directly to the customer, or to a central US collection point and then on to the customer.
Another way to add to the pool of skilled American workers trying to get jobs as hamburger flippers.
If you are that particular about clothes, you should think about going to a custom tailor in your area. They are expensive, but consider the time and effort of mailing your favorite pants to a foreign company. Do you really want to send your favorite pants to somebody you don't know ?
