Surely there is potential to bring in ethical finance/manufacturing groups into this sort of discussion -- Perhaps even have an ideas-for-sale category -- where ideas which achieve a given number of votes could be promoted so that the money-men / manufacturers could enter into discussion with the idea-generator to negotiate for rights/commissions -- of course this requires automatic legal protection for ideas upon publication without requirement for patent. I'm sure if ethical idea-developers exist, with a verifiable track-record, many idea-generating individuals would happily initiate discussions with them for just the hope of an eventual commission or recognition.

Who would want to work with any kind of thief???In my opinion, in Fantasyland, you disclose your idea and get paid. In reality, you either tell everyone your idea and they use it If It's Good, or you build your Secret Invention, Manufacture it your self, and SELL it. You have the option of applying for a patent if you don't want anyone else to sell it. If you Can't build your own invention then your patent is a lottery ticket, if it's good, such as a method of building skyscrapers in one day, as an example of an invention that the inventor can not possibly afford to build a prototype. If you invent instant buildings, then someone else will realize instant buildings can happen, and will prefer to think of ANOTHER way to make them, than to waste money on someone else's pipe dream.

Legal issues only make lawyers rich!

The toy industry and the fashion industry are notorious in thievery. And the current corporation scandals are probably only the tip of the iceberg in revealing the immoral behavior of industry in general. Patents and other legal devices for protecting ideas confer only a right to sue and this can be very expensive and time consuming and frequently totally frustrating. The concept is that a protective procedure will permit the open dissemination of ideas for the public benefit but commonly people with ideas (such as myself) are more fascinated with devising things than the commercial pursuit of their realization. I am too old and too lacking in legal expertise and disposable income to bother with the protection ramifications so I dump my ideas on the public because I cannot be bothered with subsequent requirements for their realization. Of course I would like to gain extra income, but the requirements to do so are beyond me. But many people in my situation keep their ideas out of the public domain in frustration to the public's loss.
