There should be an official ban on public celebrity endorsements of election candidates. For now I would accept a ban on Presidential elections only, but long-term I believe the ban should be universal. When Chuck Norris hosts a press conference to officially support a candidate, you know this has gone too far. I think we are all still waiting for Alec Baldwin to move to Canada following his promise to do so if Bush won in 2000. I'm pretty sure the candidates wouldn't mind either because it seems the higher the celebrity profile, the worse the chance the candidate has of actually winning. Anyone remember the last time George Clooney or Tim Robbins supported a winner? Is there an "Oprah Curse" now in play? Point is, these celebrity endorsements make a mockery of our political system and should be officially banned!

So if I endorse your candidate's opponent, you can put a stop to it by calling me a celebrity.

Considering the vote miscounts, the corruptable voting machines, the false promises of the candidates that could never be realized, the exclusion of many voters on false premises, the money pumped into each candidacy by wealthy sources, to declare that anything can make a mockery of the farce we call elections is ludicrous.

I regard freedom of speech very highly.

Even celebrities have this freedom.

I don't pay any attention to most of them, so I didn't know that Chuck had a press conference.

If it bothers you, you should ignore them.

The real problem is that our elections take too long, so the press is always needing a new angle to report--the celebs provide this.
