Have you been waiting at an aiport and tried talking on the phone? It is very hard to carry a conversation because the announcements on the loud speakers do not allow you to hear. Additionally, your private conversations are heard by everyone else sitting next to you in the lounge. I have heard business people on conference calls discussing important matters in this lounges.Airports should have telephone booths, were people can lock themselves and enjoy a private conversation. A fee can be charged to access each both.

Those were common at airports, trains stations, etc, years ago. Don't know why they stopped installing them. Maybe drug addicts were using them, etc.
What I read is that people peed in them and it was a hassle cleaning them. (Phone companies installed a little deflector plate in the corner to divert the stream onto the offender's leg, in hopes of discouraging the practice.) But in an airport, where bathrooms are nearby and low-class drunks are few, this shouldn't be a problem. I suspect the phone companies just stupidly adopted a blanket policy of No More Booths.
