Mobile Remittances | |||||||||||||||||
Mobile phone companies in developing countries could add the possibility of buying minutes with US or European credit cards to their websites. This would mean that if a Ghanaian in the US, for example, had an aunt in a village who used a mobile phone, the US-Ghanaian could buy mobile phone minutes for their aunt either as a remittance or to make it easier for the aunt to call them. this would open a new market for the mobile companies at very little expense, and provide a useful and currently unavailable service.
