Why not have digital cameras that have infrared ports so that you can put two cameras next to each other to transfer a picture that you want? During our international trips, many students wanted to take the same picture of an event or a landmark. This caused many problems because a designated picture-taker had to take several pictures with multiple cameras. By having the ability to wirelessly connect digital cameras to one another so pictures can be transferred instantaneously would save us time and embarassment (from all the onlookers noticing how many cameras were being used).

I think this would be a really useful/popular feature if it's technologically possible.

It is technologically possible, to a point.

The link electronics (IR or RF, likely Bluetooth), and a transfer protocol would need to be standardised. A camera manufacturer would need to include the electronics and develop the UI for their firmware.

Here's something that looks like it could be a first step toward this feature. The Eye-Fi wireless SD memory card automatically uploads pictures taken to a designated photo-storing site via Fi-Fi. Here's a link to a product review:
