Personalized Movie Experience | |||||||||||||||||
Over the past five years, fewer and fewer Americans have been going to the movies. The annoyance of chattering patrons and waiting in long lines for popcorn and soda have prompted many people to stay at home and watch recent releases through Netflix or online. In order to compete in the new entertainment environment, national theaters should develop a personalized movie experience for customers where each seat comes equipped with Bose acoustic nose-canceling headphones and the ability to order food and drink through a touch screen that will deliver the order through the "tube system" used by banks at their drive-through windows. This will maintain the big screen experience while eliminating the surrounding distractions and the need to get out of one's seat during the movie.

Considering what they already charge for tickets, it sounds expensive.
Obviously, it should be noise-canceling, not nose-canceling
Forget the pneumatic food delivery and have a waiter bring it to you--otherwise it's impractical.
I think this is intriguing enough to warrant an experiment or two, perhaps by a desperate theater-owner. It could start small--that is, only a small portion of the theater need have headphones and order screens installed. Perhaps there could be a surcharge on tickets for that section (?). Both of those would make it less risky.
