For those who have been to New York City, you probably have noticed the omnipresent street stands where artists offer to draw your name in beautiful Chinese characters for $20. Those characters usually sound close to your name and have a proper meaning in the Chinese language. For example, the Chinese version of "Anna" would be “安娜”,it's pronounced as "an-na"and means "peaceful" and "pretty". I would like to build a website where volunteer Chinese language specialists could help people to find their names in Chinese. Other users could ask questions, make comments and offer alternative suggestions. While I am sure the site could draw attention of tattoo lovers and T-shirt manufacturers, I hope it could also help people who are interested in the Chinese language and culture to get to know each other and exchange ideas through this interesting platform.
