Airplane Book Exchange | |||||||||||||||||
My idea would be for a way for airplane passengers to swap reading material (books, magazines, newspapers) that they brought with them and have finished with other passengers. This could be an area in the back of the plane where passengers could discard what they had already read and perhaps pick up something else they were interested in reading. Anything left over after the flight or a series of flights could be recycled or used books could be donated to a charity. This idea could also work in airports or for buses or trains.

fyi, the library by my home has a "free" book section. Each book has a large label on it indicating that it is a traveling book.
The idea is that if you take a book, you log onto a website and enter your city/state, and then drop off the book somewhere else, perhaps at the end of a flight. Someone else can take it, log it, etc., and the cycle continues.
For newspapers, I see them being traded around alot on flights already.
I like it, but some wet-blanket in the airline's legal department would point out that some customers would make a fuss if they encountered "objectionable" or "politically slanted" material on offer.
