One of the most frustrating things about international travel is the fear that you will be taken advantage of, or ripped off. This especially applies to taking taxis. It is hard to know who you can trust and who you cannot. Some common advice given is to rely on your hotel to call a legitimate taxi, but sometimes hotel personnel may have personal deals with local taxi operators.
One possibility is to set up a global taxi company, one that operates in many different countries, and publishes its rates online (rates adjusted fairly for each country). On the website, you could even calculate rough rates, say from the airport to your hotel, so that you would know what to expect going in. You would know ahead of time what is a fair rate. There is an easy number you can dial in any country to arrange for a taxi. The cabs are all metered. The taxi logo is very recognizable and these taxis are readily available. The taxi company would hire and train local employees. If something goes wrong, there would be a simple way to report the taxi number and the complaint, either online or by phone.
