Add the title of movies to the closing credits

We have all started watching a movie on TV somewhere in the middle. We watched all the way to the end trying to figure out the title of the movie but to no avail. Why don’t movies add the title of the movie to the closing credits? If we knew the title we could watch it again on a cable channel or even buy or rent a copy.

I sympathize totally. But now that I have digital cable, there's the info button on the remote that tells me what I'm watching, even who the main actors are.

This definitely falls into the "Why on earth not" category. However, with all the unions involved in making a film, there are often rather arcane rules for how and when various things must be presented (though those usually address the opening credits). For example, by agreement, the director's name comes last in the opening credits, immediately preceded by the writer(s).

There may still be nothing on TV, but at least now you can find out what it's called.

Hello. I just wanna say that we have this on German TV. You always find the title at the end of the movie together with some other information (year, actors, etc.)Jochen, Germany

Most hollywood releases I see have that info in there (provided the channel I watch the movie on doesn't squeeze the credits).

Good idea. Until it is realized, you can always remember two or three names in the credits and visit the "internet movie database" to get the movie title in a few seconds (use the "people working together" search at http://imdb.com/name-search).

Cheers! :-)

My cable company provides the TV Guide Channel. You can always go to your computer and check the TV listings.

They've been doing that the last couple years on movies I've seen in the theatres, but yeah, digital cable has that and even standard cable has some metadata transmitted with it, I have a Sony TV that can read it
