Nix Office Energy Waste | |||||||||||||||||
I recently learned of an office building in Germany which has double-doors for its entrance. The first door opens when the sensors detect someone's presence. The second set of doors will not open until the first set of doors fully close. Obviously, this technology works best if there is a shut-off default switch in times of emergency (i.e. fire). This is a great idea that should be implemented in all office buildings so that heat/AC energy is better conserved in the building. The type of door that simply swings open (and can be held open by passers-by) should be eliminated from office buildings.

Many buildings already have double doors. The issue would be traffic flow, making people wait, etc.
