Maybe it would be possible to set up a website where people could pool resources to buy activist ads in the NY TIMES op-ed page.

The website would be very similar to the whynot.net website where people put up ideas, but instead of voting, people put up money. If enough money shows up to put in the newspaper it goes in, and if not everyone gets their money back. Maybe 10% is cut off to keep the org running.

This would allow all you aspiring populist activists to be heard while by-passing the Washington lobbyists who put up most of these ads.

This is such a good idea that I posted a revised version on the Entrepreneur's BB at Ryze. It could be done by anyone with moderate web management and marketing skills. I hope somebody will pick it up and do it.
