GPS taxi/cab service | |||||||||||||||||
i'm sure many of you have experienced the frustration of trying to find a good street corner to catch a taxi going by and then watching taxi after taxi go by occupied and maybe waiting up to 15 minutes before finding the right corner AT THE RIGHT TIME to get one. well now that GPS is starting to become a standard add-on for new phones, wouldn't it be great if we had a 'hot button' which would signal to a taxi company that you want a taxi? i envision a set-up which is something like this.. you sign-up for the service online (some website run by a third party which works with the taxi company), providing your ph number and you are given a number to call to activate your status as 'in search of a taxi' and another number to dial to cancel your status of 'in search of a taxi'. you would not need to speak to anyone the number would just directly feed input to a database. now, once you press your 'hot button', a bunch of computer algorithms work out which VACANT taxi is closest to your location (and this should be easy to setup because most taxi's in major cities now have GPS also so there location could be regularly fed to the same database)and you pop up on their GPS navigation console as a green flashing dot saying 'pick me up please!' and PRESTO! fast, no hassle service. the benefits of the system are obvious for both the consumer and the taxi companies. currently both parties are playing the game blind with no logical system in place. with this new system, consumers are happier, their lives are made easier, they get to where they want to go faster, and for the taxi companies, they get more work, more frequently with less hassle and uncertainty, and with more efficiency.
